New Unit Crosses Digital Divide with State-of-the-art Equipment and Technology Upgrades

MARYLAND, JULY 25, 2016 — MEDI+SIGN®, a provider of fully-automated patient monitoring and intelligent digital whiteboard display solutions, proudly announced today that its connected health platform is helping a newly-opened unit at St. Luke’s Hospital – Miners Campus deliver superior patient care and services. St. Luke’s Miners Campus is located in Coaldale, PA, and now houses the Universal Care Suite, the region’s only hospital with an all-private unit of rooms. The unit was designed to provide patients with access to best-in-class healthcare services and technologies that succeed in improving health outcomes and wellness. MEDI+SIGN was selected as a centerpiece of the technology upgrades to help the hospital meet the requirements of the HITECH[1] Act’s meaningful use program, and improve its HCAHPS survey scores.

MEDI+SIGN’s intelligent technology provides a proven foundation to support a connected healthcare environment. Each private room in the Universal Care Suite is equipped with a MEDI+SIGN patient digital whiteboard display that communicates important information to patients and their families about their care; including, photos and names of the attending care team, pain control and medication management plans, anticipated discharge schedule, fall risk and mobility status, among other patient-specific information pulled from their electronic health record (EHR). Giving patients access to a personalized dashboard of their health and risk profile helps them better understand their care plan, and empowers them to make informed decisions about their care. This level of engagement is fundamental to a meaningful care program, and a key driver toward improved engagement, satisfaction and outcomes.

“MEDI+SIGN’s mission is to help hospitals and healthcare providers overcome the financial, clinical and operational challenges facing the industry today,” said Andrew Hoffman, President of MEDI+SIGN. “We’re impressed with the Universal Care Suite model and proud to deliver a connected health technology solution that will help St. Luke’s achieve their compliance and performance goals, and deliver world-class healthcare. We’re excited to be part of the launch of this new unit, and continue to grow our relationship with St. Luke’s.”

“We wanted our new unit to be a warm, welcoming and modern healing environment for our patients,” said Bill Moyer, President of St. Luke’s Hospital – Miners Campus. “The MEDI+SIGN electronic display helps elevate that patient experience. We’ve heard nothing but praise.”

MEDI+SIGN digital whiteboards are integrated with the hospital’s EHR system, as well as proprietary remote patient monitoring systems, and update automatically to ensure clinicians and patients have access to the real-time, actionable patient information that they need to make timely and efficient care decisions. This technology solution alleviates the burdensome and time-consuming process involved with manually updating traditional whiteboards, and eliminates inaccuracies and delays in patient information sharing.

“MEDI+SIGN is a great addition to our brand-new patient care unit. Now, instead of handwritten ‘white boards,’ critical information is displayed clearly and professionally, and is seamlessly updated,” says Kim Sargent, RN, Vice President of Patient Care Services for St. Luke’s Hospital – Miners Campus. “For our staff, it is a time-saver; for our patients, it is a modern approach to the information they need. From patient stats to their nurse manager’s picture, patients and their caregivers have easy access to helpful information.”
